The article focuses on the careers of the hierarchs of the Przemyska diocese and on their influence on the pastoral service in the bishopric capital. The author both answers the question regarding the possible relation of the two factors and presents the characteristics of the bishopric which automatically modified the actions of the clergy. She starts with a concise description of the origins of the bishopric, then she depicts the status it gained in 5lh and 16Ih centuries within the metropolis, as well as within the whole Crown. She proceeds to present the careers of the hierarchs of Przemyśl, indicating the ways of their promotion to the bishopric and the status of particular bishops which enabled them to realise their plans and endeavours. Finally, she shows the relation between the process of acquiring a higher position, both within the Church and in the administration, and the fulfilment of the pastoral duties stemming from the function in the Church of Przmyśl.
