Dialogue of the deaf? : hopes and challenges related to building a safe city

Celem artykułu jest uświadomienie czytelnikowi, że od wypracowanych przez naukę narzędzi metodologicznych nie należy oczekiwać jednoznacznych wskazówek czy prostych instrukcji. Jak wskazuje Autorka, "uchwalenie programu bezpieczeńśtwa dla miasta jest procesem politycznym". Fakt ten nie powinien jednak zwalniać nikogo, kto bierze udział w tym procesie, od zachowania minimum metodologicznej rzetelności. W tym celu w tekście dokonany został przegląd ustaleń metodologicznych, który cechuje rzadko spotykany realizm, w tym zwrócenie uwagi na występujące "mody naukowe".

The aim of the article is to make the reader aware that one should not expect unambiguous instructions or simple instructions from the methodological tools developed by science. As the author points out, "adopting a security program for the city is a political process." This fact should not, however, release anyone who participates in this process, from maintaining a minimum of methodological honesty. To this end, a review has been made of methodological findings, which are characterized by rare realism, including the attention to the existing "scientific fashions".
