The image of the Czechs in Polish literary reportage on the basis of "Gottland" by Mariusz Szczygieł and "Pepiki. Dramatyczne stulecie Czechów" by Mariusz Surosz

Celem niniejszej pracy jest pokazanie jaki obraz Czechów przedstawiają Polscy twórcy reportaży literackich. Jako obiekt badania zostały wybrane zbiory reportaży Mariusza Szczygła ("Gottland") i Mariusza Surosza ("Pepiki. Dramatyczne stulecie Czechów").Część teoretyczna pracy wprowadza informacje związane z gatunkiem reportażu oraz stereotypami. Omówione zostało także postrzeganie Czechów przez Polaków w perspektywie historycznej.Celem badań, przeprowadzonych z użyciem metody inspirowanej uważnym czytaniem, jest sprawdzenie czy wybrane stereotypy znajdują swoje odzwierciedlenie w analizowanych reportażach oraz czy są obalane czy potwierdzane przez autorów. Analiza tekstów wykazała, że badane teksty Szczygła i Surosza odnoszą się do problematyki wybranych stereotypów, a większość z nich zostaje potwierdzona.

The aim of this study is to show what image of the Czechs is presented by Polish authors of literary reportage. Reportages by Mariusz Szczygieł ("Gottland") and Mariusz Surosz ("Pepiki. Dramatyczne stulecie Czechów") were chosen as the object of study.The theoretical part of the work introduces information related to the genre of reportage and stereotypes. It also discusses the perception of the Czechs by Poles in a historical perspective.The aim of the study, conducted with the use of the method inspired by close reading, is to check whether the selected stereotypes are reflected in the analysed reportages and whether they are refuted or confirmed by the authors. The analysis of the texts has shown that the studied texts by Szczygieł and Surosz refer to selected stereotypes, and most of them are confirmed.
