„Between the mayor and the parson the old war goes on forever.” Secular and religious conflicts in cultural texts from the 16th to the 21st century, on the example of the works of Mikołaj Rej and the series Ranch.

Głównym tematem pracy jest analiza sposobów ukazywania konfliktów świecko-religijnych na przestrzeni wieków, na przykładzie bohaterów Krótkiej rozprawy między trzema osobami, Panem, Wójtem a Plebanem Mikołaja Reja oraz serialu Ranczo w reżyserii Wojciecha Adamczyka. Ponadto stanowi ona próbę zbadania relacji pomiędzy religią a społeczeństwem w różnych tekstach kultury oraz tego, jakie zmiany zaszły w przestawianiu konfliktów świecko-religijnych. W rozdziale pierwszym omówiona zostanie Krótka rozprawa między trzema osobami, Panem, Wójtem a Plebanem Mikołaja Reja. Kolejna część pracy dotyczy Wójta i Plebana z serialu Ranczo. Ostatni rozdział skupia się na porównaniu wcześniej wspomnianych dzieł i zaprezentowaniu innych autorów, którzy na przestrzeni 500 lat poruszali temat konfliktów świecko-religijnych.

The main aim of this thesis is the analysis of the ways of portraying secular and religious conflicts over the centuries, on the example of the protagonists of A Brief Discourse among Three Persons: a Lord, a Commune Chief, and a Priest, by Mikołaj Rej and the series Ranch directed by Wojciech Adamczyk. Moreover, it is an attempt to examine the relationship between religion and society in various cultural texts and what changes have occurred in the presentation of secular and religious conflicts. In the first chapter, a Brief Discourse among Three Persons: a Lord, a Commune Chief, and a Priest of Mikołaj Rej will be discussed. The next part of the work concerns the Mayor and the Priest from the series Ranch. The last chapter focuses on the comparison of the previously mentioned works and introducing other authors who have dealt with the topic of secular and religious conflicts over the course of 500 years.
