The influence of intercultural relations on the culture of Podhale region

Praca ma na celu analizę, jak na przestrzeni lat elementy pochodzące z różnych kultur przenikały i zadomowiały się w kulturze Podhala. Potrzeba takiej analizy jest powodowana nasileniem zainteresowania kulturą podhalańską w regionie oraz brakiem obecności tej wiedzy w dyskursie publicznym. Tekst czerpie z literatury przedmiotu i wiedzy ludowej przekazywanej ustnie, która została pozyskana przez autora, który pochodzi z Podhala. Analizie zostają poddane procesy, które wpływają na rozprzestrzenianie się kultury. Na podstawie literatury autor przedstawia krótką historię regionu oraz określa jego granice. Dalej opisane są wybrane elementy kultury podhalańskiej, w tym ubiór, kuchnia, taniec i muzyka. W ostatniej części opisane wcześniej elementy są analizowane pod kątem zapożyczeń i relacji międzykulturowych. Całość pracy udowadnia występowanie na Podhalu wielu zapożyczeń i ich silny wpływ na współczesne Podhale. Wnioski mogą zostać użyte do dalszych rozważań na temat relacji międzykulturowych i ich badania w kulturach postrzeganych jako tradycyjne.

The work aims to analyze how, over the years, elements from different cultures have permeated and established themselves in the culture of Podhale. The need for such an analysis is driven by the increased interest in Podhale culture in the region and the lack of presence of this knowledge in public discourse. The text draws on the literature on the subject and folk knowledge passed down orally, which was acquired by the author, who is originally from Podhale. The processes that affect the spread of culture are analyzed. Based on the literature, the author provides a brief history of the region and defines its boundaries. Next, selected elements of Podhale culture are described, including clothing, cuisine, dance and music. In the last part, the previously described elements are analyzed in terms of borrowings and cross-cultural relations. The work as a whole proves the existence of many borrowings in Podhale culture and their strong influence on modern Podhale. The conclusions can be used for further consideration of intercultural relations and their study in cultures perceived as traditional.
