Praca pt. Malowidła ścienne Akrotiri jest próbą przybliżenia częściowo zaginionego świata Thery w okresie jego szczytowego rozwoju w XVII w. przed Chr. na podstawie zachowanych malowideł ściennych oraz dobrze zrekonstruowanych wykopalisk. Omawiana praca podzielona jest na sześć rozdziałów. Rozdział I jest ogólnym wprowadzeniem do zagadnienia kultury basenu Morza Egejskiego w epoce brązu, z uwzględnieniem kultury minojskiej i cykladzkiej. W rozdziale II przedstawiona została krótka charakterystyka geograficzna, wraz geologiczną przeszłością wyspy, dotyczącą działalności wulkanicznej na tym obszarze. Tematem rozdziału III jest historia Thery. Opisane zostały dzieje, począwszy od pierwszych śladów działalności człowieka na wyspie, jej późniejszy rozwój gospodarczy i kulturalny aż do czasów współczesnych. Kolejny rozdział pracy IV omawia zagadnienia dotyczące wykopalisk archeologicznych na wyspie. Po wprowadzeniu do historii odkrycia Akrotiri, opisane zostały poszczególne kompleksy zabudowań, układ urbanistyczny i architektura. Rozdział IV jest wprowadzeniem do tematyki malarstwa ściennego. Pierwszy podrozdział omawia kwestię wzajemnego oddziaływania malarstwa wazowego na malarstwo ścienne. W podrozdziale drugim opisana została technika malarska. Treść ostatniego, VI rozdziału stanowi ikonografia. Omówione zostały dwa główne nurty tematyczne: przyroda oraz człowiek. W sposób obszerny opisane zostały poszczególnie malowidła dotyczące danego tematu oraz ich interpretacja.

This paper deals with the wall paintings in Akrotiri and it is an attempt to approach the partly lost Aegean world of Thera in the period of its heyday(17 c. B C), based on the good state of presrved ruin of the buildings with their mural decorations and movable finds inside them. The papers consists of six chapters. Chapter I is an introduction to the issues of the Aegean Civilisation in the Bronze Age, including the Minoan Crete and Cyclades.Chapter II includes a brief description of geography and takes into consideration the geology of the island and the volcanic activity in the region of Thera. Chapter III concerns the history of Thera and starts with describing the first traces of human activity on the island and its later economic and cultural development to the present day. The next chapter IV discusses the issues of excavations on Thera. After presenting the short history of the discovery of the archeological site at Akrotiri it describes the various complexes of buildings, urban layout and its architecture. Chapter V is an introduction to the subject of the wall paintings. The first section discusses the iconographic associations between Theran wall painting and vase painting. The second section describes the wall painting technique. The last chapter discusses the two main pictorial motives: nature and man. The separated sections present a broad description of the individualy paintings and their interpretations.
