W artykule zestawiono koncepcję filozofii czasu świętego Augustyna z Hippony z psychologicznymi teoriami dotyczącymi pamięciowych reprezentacji czasu. Zaprezentowany został koncept prezentystycznej wersji endurantyzmu - teorii, która zakłada realność teraźniejszości oraz tożsamość podmiotów i przedmiotów trwających w czasie. W filozofii świętego Augustyna czas jest określany jako rozciągłość umysłu. Teraźniejszość jest odbierana poprzez zmysły, natomiast przeszłość i przyszłość pozostają w umyśle jako wspomnienia i oczekiwania. Rozważania te są nie tylko zgodne z założeniami prezentyzmu, ale znajdują też odzwierciedlenie w psychologicznych teoriach pamięci na temat zdarzeń przeszłych i przyszłych. Artykuł przybliża pojęcia pamięci retrospektywnej i prospektywnej, które umożliwiają wyrażanie myśli o zdarzeniach przeszłych i przyszłych, mimo że nie jesteśmy zdolni do bezpośredniego percypowania ich w teraźniejszości. Augustiański czas, jako rozciągłość umysłu, odniesiony został do koncepcji podróży mentalnych. Wskazano na ważną funkcję pamięci - pamiętając o przeszłości, możemy wpływać na naszą przyszłość.

The Article presents the comparison of Saint Augustine's philosophy of time and the psychological theories about the representation of time in memory. It depicts the concept of presentism combined with endurantism - theory that assume the presentness as the only existing time, in which agents persist their identity. In saint Augustyn's philosophy, time is the extension of the mind itself. The presentness is perceived with senses, but the past and the future exists in the mind through our memories and expectations. Those thoughts are consistent not only with presentism, but also with psychological theories about memories of the past and future events. Article explains the terms of retrospective and prospective memory, as the tools that enable thinking about the past and future events, though they are not existing in the present. Saint Augustine's time as the extension of the mind is compared to the concept of the mental travels, emphasizing the major function of the memory - through remembering the past, we can influence the future.
