The engagement of child soldiers in armed conflicts. Characteristics of the problem on the example of selected militarized organizations in Africa

Praca porusza problem werbowania dzieci do konfliktów zbrojnych na kontynencie afrykańskim. Opisuje podstawowe pojęcia w tym ujęciu, takie jak „dziecko-żołnierz”, czy „nowa wojna”. Skupia się także na aspekcie prawnym owej kwestii, porównując prawa dziecka, a dorosłego człowieka. Przedstawia zjawisko terroryzmu w kontekście działań najbardziej znanych organizacji terrorystycznych na omawianym obszarze, takich jak Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab oraz Armii Bożego Oporu.

The thesis deals with the problem of recruiting children to armed conflicts on the African continent. It describes basic terms such as "child-soldier" or "new war". It also focuses on the legal aspect of the issue, comparing the rights of the child and the rights of the adult. It presents the phenomenon of terrorism in the context of the activities of the best-known terrorist organisations in the area, such as Boko Haram, Ash-Shabaab and the Lord's Resistance Army.
