The relations between the Catholic Church and Polish Government in the Polish People's Republic, 1944-1989.

Powojenna historia Polski minęła pod znakiem totalitaryzmu, terroru, niemalże ciągłych strajków, a co najważniejsze daleko idącej zależności od Związku Radzieckiego. W niniejszej pracy autor skupia się na wewnętrznym konflikcie między Kościołem, a władzą państwową, dokonuje przeglądu 45 lat działalności Kościoła i władzy w kontekście konfliktu obu stron. Przywołuje wydarzenia, analizuje powstałe wówczas akty prawne kontrolujące czy określające działalność Episkopatu w Polsce. Subiektywne spojrzenie z perspektywy osoby żyjącej niemal 50 lat po opisywanych wydarzeniach, w oparciu o źródła powstałe zarówno w czasie o którym mowa, jak i te, które opisują lata trwania PRL z perspektywy już historycznej.

After World War II Polish history was marked by totalitarianism, terror, almost endless strikes, and most importantly, far-reaching dependence on the Soviet Union. In this thesis, the author focuses on the internal conflict between the Church and the polish government, shall review the 45 years of activity of the Church and power in the context of the conflict on both sides. He recalls the events, to analyse the resulting legislation controlling or determining the activity of the Bishops in Poland. This is his subjective perspectives from person living almost 50 years after the events described, based on sources generated both at the time in question, as well as those that describe the years of the communist perspective already history.
