The reasons for the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022. Systemic, state and individual levels

W niniejszej pracy podejmowana jest próba odnalezienia przyczyn wybuchu wojny w Ukrainie w 2022 roku. W tym celu została wykorzystana metoda trzech poziomów analiz zaproponowana przez Kennetha Waltza (system, państwo, jednostki). Poziom systemowy pomógł zrozumieć w jakiej sytuacji znalazła się Rosja po rozpadzie Związku Radzieckiego a także jej relacje z rozwijającym się sojuszem północnoatlantyckim (NATO). Co więcej pokazał jak Ukraina znalazła się w sytuacja osamotnienia pomiędzy Rosją a NATO. Poziom państwa przedstawił główne problemy z jakimi boryka się Rosja a z jakimi Ukraina oraz jak na te problemy wzajemnie oddziałują. Dla Rosji są to: interes bezpieczeństwa w stosunku do NATO, źródła gazu w Ukrainie, kryzys demograficzny oraz Ukraina z bronią NATO. W przypadku Ukrainy są to: bezpieczeństwo przed Rosją, możliwość rozwoju gospodarczego i wymierzona w nią Rosyjska propaganda. Trzeci poziom pokazuje przez perspektywę jednostek jak rozwijały się relacje Amerykańsko-Rosyjsko-Ukraińskie i co na to wpływało. W podsumowaniu zestawiane zostają wszystkie poziomy w celu odnalezienia przyczyn wybuchu wojny na Ukrainie w 2022 roku.

This work attempts to find the reasons for the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022. For this purpose, the method of three levels of analysis proposed by Kenneth Waltz (system, state, units) was used. The systemic level helped to understand the situation Russia found itself in after the collapse of the Soviet Union, as well as its relations with the developing North Atlantic Alliance (NATO). Moreover, it showed how Ukraine found itself in a situation of isolation between Russia and NATO. The state level presented the main problems facing Russia and Ukraine, and how these problems interact with each other. For Russia, these are: the security interest in NATO, gas sources in Ukraine, the demographic crisis and Ukraine with NATO weapons. In the case of Ukraine, these are: security against Russia, the possibility of economic development, and Russian propaganda against it. The third level shows, through the perspective of individuals, how the US-Russian-Ukrainian relations developed and what influenced it. In the summary, all levels are compiled in order to find the causes of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
