The collections housed in museums serve as important sources of information about our ancestors, old art, religious practices, farming, and their understanding of the surrounding nature. The paper presents a preliminary analysis of the Plant and Fungi Atlas by Wilhelm Fusek (1842-1914). The study were focused exclusively on those charts of the atlas which are deposited in the Biecz Land Museum. The analysis includes the taxonomic affiliation of the plants presented in the illustrations, their status in the Polish flora, as well as their altitude range and the type of habitat they represent. It is also noted whether these species occur in the vicinity of Biecz and if they posses any useful properties. In total, 162 species from the atlas were analyzed. Among the 29 families included in the atlas, the Asteraceae family is the most numerous (28 species). Among the species presented on the cards deposited in the Biecz Land Museum, 73 are native to the Polish flora, 21 are anthropophytes naturalized in our country (including 16 archaeophytes and 5 neophytes), 25 are cultivated species in Poland, and 40 are species that do not occur in Poland (but may be found in botanical garden collections, for example). In the group of native species, non-mountain species predominated (almost 80%), although there was also a participation of mountain species, including those known in Poland only from the highest parts of the Tatra Mountains (e.g., Minuartia sedoides, Silene acaulis). The species included in the atlas exhibit a great diversity in terms of ecology. Among them are species representing 18 different types of plant communities, with the group of species associated with anthropogenic habitats being the most numerous. Out of the 159 plants analyzed for their useful properties, the majority (97) showed potential medicinal uses. Furthermore, the plants included in the atlas also have applications in culinary, industrial, and cosmetic fields.
