The subject of this dissertation is the examination of testimony written by Ludwik Drwal about the German occupation of Poland, which he wrote long after the war. His testimony shows his family’s participation in the local struggle against the Germans. It also represents ordinary life in the new reality of war. This is a remarkably valuable story because it has never been published. It also refers to a community in Sucha Beskidzka and its neighbourhood, in the southern part of occupied Poland, whose activity and patriotism significantly influenced the faith of the entire population fighting for freedom and an independent country. All the facts and names have been verified and are described in footnotes. This dissertation covers a number of documents, diplomas for merits for the country, photographs and articles. They all prove that the testimony given by Ludwik Drwal is accurate. It is an incredibly valuable historical source for historians.
