War of two roses and society in England in the perspective of Croyland Chronicle

Niniejsza praca została poświęcona Wojnie Dwóch Róż, przedstawionej w świetle kroniki sporządzonej w Opactwie Croyland. Głównym wątkiem opracowania są przemiany jakie nastąpiły w wyniku tego konfliktu na najwyższym szczeblu społeczeństwa angielskiego, a także kształtowanie relacji magnaterii z królem.Praca składa się z pięciu rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich został poświęcony Opactwie w Croyland i kronice tam spisanej - która w dalszych rozdziałach pracy posłuży za punkt odniesienia. Drugi rozdział skupia się na przedstawieniu sytuacji w Anglii przed wybuchem wojny. Zaprezentowana zostaje pozycja króla w państwie oraz rola frakcji magnackich, które tworzyły się w tamtym czasie. Kolejne rozdziały odnoszą się bezpośrednio do kroniki i jej przekazu na temat wojny. W rozdziale czwartym pokazane zostają przyczyny wybuchu konfliktu a w rozdziale piątym jego przebieg. Rozdział szósty przedstawia skutki konfliktu, na jakie zwraca uwagę kronikarz.

The following thesis is dedicated to the War of Two Roses, presented in the light of the chronicle written at Croyland Abbey. The main clues of the study are the changes that have taken place as a result of this conflict at the hights of English society, as well as shaping the relationship between lords with the king.The thesis consists of five chapters. The first of them is dedicated to the Abbey of Croyland and the chronicle written there - which will serve as a reference point in the following chapters. The second chapter focuses on presenting the situation in England before the outbreak of war. The position of the king in the state and the role of magnate factions that were formed at that time are presented. The following chapters relate directly to the chronicle and its narration about the war. In the fourth chapter the reasons for the outbreak of the conflict are shown and in the fifth chapter its course. Chapter six presents the effects of the conflict, which the chronicler points out.
