Abstract in English

The intellectual figure of Barbara Sosień and the studies on symbolic imagination (l’ étude de l’ imaginaire) of which she is a representative are taken as a starting point for refl ection on recent tendencies in the humanities, facing the exhaustion of post-modernity and the necessity of seeking new ideas and sources of inspiration. The climate of change, and in particular the perspective of abandoning politically oriented humanities, can be seen as giving a new lease of life to studies of the imaginary.
