Origins of the Cold War bipolar system

Praca poświęcona jest procesom, które doprowadziły do ukonstytuowania się międzynarodowego systemu dwubiegunowego po II Wojnie Światowej. Ma ona na celu wskazanie zarówno mechanizmów geopolitycznych, jak i ideologicznych oraz społecznych, leżących u podstawy tego precedensowego modelu równowagi sił. Rozpoczyna ją część wprowadzająca w zagadnienia teoretyczne dotyczące struktury systemu międzynarodowego, następnie omówione zostają procesy, które doprowadziły do wykształcenia się dwóch ośrodków siły hegemonicznej oraz ideologiczne podstawy ich globalnego wpływu. W dalszej kolejności opisane są procesy zimnowojenne w Europie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem instytucjonalizacji współpracy w ramach obu bloków, oraz konflikty w Azji i krajach Trzeciego Świata. Jako ostatni zostaje poddany analizie wpływ broni jądrowej na kształtowanie się polityki międzynarodowej w okresie zimnej wojny, z uwzględnieniem kryzysu kubańskiego. Pracę podsumowują konkluzje odnośnie genezy zimnej wojny oraz rozważania nad istotą bezpieczeństwa dwubiegunowego w tym konkretnym przypadku.

The thesis is devoted to the processes that led to the formation of the international bipolar system after the Second World War. Its aim is to indicate the geopolitical, ideological and social mechanisms that are forming the basis of this precedent balance of power model. It begins with the introductory part, that includes theoretical issues concerning the structure of the international system, then discusses the processes that led to the emergence of two centers of hegemonic power and the ideological basis of their global influence. Subsequently, the Cold War processes in Europe are described, with particular emphasis on the institutionalization of cooperation within both blocks, as well as conflicts in Asia and the Third World. The last to be analyzed is the impact of nuclear weapons on the formation of international politics during the Cold War, including the Cuban crisis. The thesis is summarized by the conclusions regarding the origins of the Cold War and considerations on the essence of bipolar security in this particular case.
