Przedmiotem pracy magisterskiej jest filozofia życiowa i znaczenie gór w życiu legendarnych włoskich alpinistów XIX wieku: Riccardo Cassina, Cesare Maestriego oraz Waltera Bonattiego, zanalizowana w oparciu o ich pamiętniki oraz wywiady, filmy i artykuły im poświęcone. We wstępie została scharakteryzowana historia alpinizmu i wspinaczki, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Włoch oraz motywacji które od wieków przyciągają ludzi w góry. Rozdział pierwszy jest poświęcony ikonie włoskiego alpinizmu, Riccardo Cassinowi, jego filozofii i przemyśleniom dotyczącym alpinizmu i społeczeństwa. W rozdziale drugim została scharakteryzowana słynna postać Cesare Maestriego, jego stosunek do gór i alpinizmu, a także jego spojrzenie na życie z uwzględnieniem kwestii wolności i pokoju na świecie, tak często poruszanej przez alpinistę. Rozdział trzeci został zadedykowany legendzie włoskiej wspinaczki, Walterowi Bonattiemu oraz jego stosunku do świata i gór. Szczególny nacisk położono na znaczenie gór w procesie formowania się jego osobowości, rozwoju duchowego, a także na niezwykle głęboką filozofię życiową alpinisty. Ostatni rozdział jest poświęcony porównaniu roli gór w życiu alpinistów, a także ich przemyśleń i przesłania skierowanego do młodzieży i ludzi gór.

The subject of the master’s thesis is The philosophy of life and the importance of mountains in the lives of the legendary Italian climbers of XIX century: Riccardo Cassin, Cesare Maestri and Walter Bonatti. The analysis is based on certain of their writings and interviews, as well as films and articles dedicated to them. In the introduction the history of alpinism and climbing is characterized with specific reference to the territory of Italy and with emphasis on the motivations of people who have been going to the mountains for centuries. The first chapter is dedicated to Ricardo Cassin, the icon of the Italian alpinism and to his philosophy and considerations on society and mountaineering. The second chapter regards the famous climber Cesare Maestri and his relationship with the mountains and alpinism. Furthermore, the chapter deals with his view of life with emphasis on the question of world peace and freedom frequently underlined by the climber. The third chapter is dedicated to the legendary Italian mountaineer,Walter Bonatti and his relationship with the mountains, as well as his life. A particular attention is given to the role of the mountaineering in the formation of his character and in his spiritual growth. His intriguing philosophy of life is also analysed. The last chapter is devoted to the comparison of the significance of the mountains in the lives of the greatest Italian mountaineers, of their philosophy and reflections, with emphasis on the message that they wanted to leave to young people and to everybody who goes to the mountains.

Il tema della tesi di laurea è la filosofia di vita e il ruolo della montagna nella vita dei leggendari arrampicatori italiani dell’900: Riccardo Cassin, Cesare Maestri e Walter Bonatti, sull'esempio di alcuni loro scritti, interviste, film ed articoli dedicati a loro. Nell’introduzione è stata caratterizzata la storia dell’alpinismo e l’arrampicata, specialmente quell’italiana, con l’enfasi sulle motivazioni che da secoli attirarono i uomini alla montagna. Il capitolo primo è dedicato all’icona dell’alpinismo italiano, Riccardo Cassin, alla sua filosofia della vita ed alle sue riflessioni riguardanti la società e l’alpinismo. Nel capitolo secondo è stato presentato il famoso personaggio di Cesare Maestri, il suo rapporto con le montagne e con l’alpinismo, e inoltre le sue riflessioni sulla vita, con enfasi sulla questione della pace e libertà, così spesso messa in evidenza dallo scalatore. Il terzo capitolo è stato dedicato alla leggenda dell’arrampicata Walter Bonatti e la sua relazione con il mondo e con la montagna. Particolarmente è stato messo in evidenza l’essenziale ruolo della montagna nel processo della formazione del suo carattere e la sua crescita spirituale. Inoltre è stata caratterizzata la sua molto profonda filosofia di vita. Nell’ultimo capitolo è stato paragonato il ruolo che la montagna aveva svolto nella vita degli arrampicatori e inoltre la loro filosofia e le loro riflessioni, con l’enfasi sul messaggio che volevano lasciare alla generazione giovane.
