Celem niniejszej pracy jest zaprezentowanie dostępnej wiedzy o jednym z czterech pododcinków Obwodu Kraków-Miasto SZP-ZWZ-AK mającym kryptonim IIB/Żelbet. Opracowanie to podzielone jest na rozdziały traktujące - kolejno - o rozwoju organizacyjnym, wywiadzie/kontrwywiadzie, dywersji, łączności, oddziałach partyzanckich i losach żołnierzy tego pododcinka we wczesnym okresie powojennym. Granice pododcinka obejmowały północno-zachodnie dzielnice Krakowa a także przylegające do nich podkrakowskie wsie. Zasięg działań operacyjnych u szczytu rozwoju struktur IIB/Żelbet obejmował obwód olkuski, obwód myślenicki. Historia pododcinka IIB/Żelbet to historia konspiracyjnej społeczności Armii Krajowej, która odbiła swoje piętno na dorobku Armii Krajowej w Krakowie, ale której zarysy były praktycznie dotąd nieznane szerszej publiczności. Praca zatem próbuje odsłonić najważniejsze aspekty pracy konspiracyjnej, pokazać zmieniające się możliwości działania, wreszcie dorobek żołnierzy pododcinka IIB.

The aim of this thesis is to present the available knowledge about one of 4 units of the Home Army’s City of Kraków District codename: IIB/Żelbet. The thesis is subdivided into chapters addressing the organisational development, intelligence/counterintelligence activities, communications, partisan units and the vicissitudes of Home Army soldiers who served in this unit in the immediate post-war period (1945-1956). The boundaries assigned to the IIB/Żelbet unit covered the north-western districts of the city, extending into the neighbouring villages. At the height of its growth and capacity, the area of activity of IIB/Żelbet also covered the Olkusz and Myślenice districts. The history of the IIB/Żelbet unit of the Home Army, is a history of an underground military unit which made a difference to the overall heritage and achievements of the Home Army active in Kraków. This history has heretofore been practically unknown to the vast majority of the general public. It is thus the aim of this thesis to shed light on this unit’s underground activities, outline the changing opportunities and capacities for action and point to the achievements of its soldiers.
