Students knowledge on the use of nanotechnology in food.

Nanotechnologia jest interdyscyplinarną dziedziną nauki, która umożliwia wytwarzanie obiektów o rozmiarach nanometrycznych. Właściwości jakie posiadają nanocząsteczki sprawiają, że mogą być stosowane w: medycynie, przemyśle spożywczym, elektronice, rolnictwie, w przemyśle zbrojeniowym. Niestety zastosowanie nanotechnologii napotyka na różne ograniczenia. Barierą wpływającą na jej rozwój jest postrzeganie nowych technologii przez społeczeństwo.Głównym celem pracy jest ocena stanu wiedzy studentów na temat użycia nanotechnologii w żywności. Badaniem została objęta grupa 100 osób studiujących na kierunkach o różnych profilach kształcenia. Ze względu na specyfikę zagadnienia wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, z pomocą narzędzia badawczego jakim jest kwestionariusz ankiety. W badaniu wykazano, że studenci orientują się w ogólnej wiedzy dotyczącej nanotechnologii, jednak nie są świadomi roli jaką pełnią nanoprodukty w przemyśle spożywczym i o tym, że jest ona obecna w codziennych aktywnościach. Największą wiedzę dotyczącą tej tematyki posiadali studenci kierunków technicznych i biologicznych.Bardzo istotne jest uświadomienie konsumentów o tym czym jest nanotechnologia, jakie są korzyści oraz zagrożenia z nią związane oraz jak duży udział ma w życiu codziennym.

Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary field of science that enables the production of objects of nanometric size. Nanoparticles have properties that make that can be used in medicine, food industry, electronics, agriculture in the defense industry. Unfortunately, the use of nanotechnology faces various restrictions. The barrier influencing the development of nanotechnology is the perception of new technologies by the public.The main aim of this work is to evaluate the state of knowledge of students about the use of nanotechnology in food. The study was conducted in a group of 100 students of different educational profiles. The diagnostic survey method was used due to the nature of the issues with the help a research tool, which was the questionnaire.The study showed that the students were aware of the general knowledge of the nanotechnology, however, were not aware of the role they play nano-products in the food industry and about the fact that they are present in everyday activities. Students form biology and technology studies had the highest knowledge of this subject.Very important is the awareness of consumers about what nanotechnology is, what are the benefits and risks associated with it and how it is a big part in everyday life.
