Turkish Strategic Culture in the era of Ataturk.

W niniejszej rozprawie, składającej się z pięciu rozdziałów, podjęłam próbę kompleksowej analizy tureckiej kultury strategicznej w okresie rządów Atatürka. Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia materialne i ekonomiczne źródła na jakich opiera się kultura strategiczna. Zaliczyć do nich można położenie geograficzne, klimat, bogactwa naturalne, ludność oraz potencjał gospodarczy, strukturę gospodarki, aktywność międzynarodową i zdolności rozwojowe. Pragnę przedstawić również w tym rozdziale osobę Mustafy Kemala i nakreślić tło historyczne z uwzględnieniem upadku Imperium Osmańskiego, pierwszej wojny światowej, wojny o niepodległość i ich konsekwencji, jakimi były traktaty pokojowe. Wspomnę także o przemianach jakich dokonał Atatürk i jego najbliższe otoczenie. Rozdział drugi poświęcony jest natomiast politycznym uwarunkowaniom strategii państwa, opiszę system monopartyjny jaki stworzony został przez Partię Ludową przemianowaną na Republikańską, o rozprawieniu się z opozycją zarówno polityczną jaki i kurdyjską. O szerokiej tradycji politycznej i polityce wewnętrznej kraju. Postaram się streścić jak przebiegała deosmanizacja i reformacja państwa. Kulturowe aspekty strategii ukazane są w rozdziale trzecim, w którym pragnę przytoczyć mity założycielskie i legendy tureckie tak ważne dla konstytuowania się narodu. Ponadto dokonam próby opisu procesu tworzenia się narodowości tureckiej z uwzględnieniem problemu narzucenia jej mniejszościom. Mieszczą się w nim podejście Kemala do sztuki i kultury tureckiej, a także tradycja wojskowości. Rozdział czwarty prezentuje nośniki jakimi są władze państwowe, elity, klasy i biurokracja oraz skutki dla kultury strategicznej czyli identyfikacja zagrożeń, planowanie strategiczne, globalna i narodowa kultura strategiczna.

The aim of this thesis is comprehensive analysis of Turkey's strategic culture during the rule of Atatürk. The first chapter presents the material and financial sources which are deemed strategic culture. These include the geographical location, climate, natural resources, population and economic potential, the structure of the economy, international activity and development potential. I wish to present also in this section a person of Mustafa Kemal and outline the historical background, taking into account the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the First World War, the War of Independence and their consequences which were peace treaties. Also mention the transformations wrought by Atatürk and his aide surroundings. The second chapter is devoted to political conditionality of the country's strategy. I describe how one-party system created by the People's Party was renamed as Republican, dealing with the political opposition and Kurdish. A broad political tradition and the internal politics of the country. I will try to summarize how to proceed deosmanization and reformation of the state. The cultural aspects of the strategy are shown in the third chapter, in which I wish to cite the founding myths and legends of the Turkish constitution so important for the nation. Furthermore, I shall attempt to describe the process of formation of Turkish nationality with regard to the problem of imposing its minorities. It houses Kemal approach to the art and culture of Turkish, as well as military tradition. Chapter Four presents carriers which are public authorities, the elite class and the bureaucracy and the implications for strategic culture or identification of risks, strategic planning, global and national strategic culture.
