National Security Agency after 9/11

Celem pracy jest przybliżenie funkcjonowania Agencji Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego po 11 września 2001 r. Podanie zarysu historycznego ma pomóc w zrozumieniu jak ważne procesy wywiadowcze dzieją się w NSA. Ponadto praca wskazuje, że istotne jest zrozumienie całościowego obrazu kontrowersji związanych z działalnością Agencji po 9/11 – nie tylko artykuły i nagłówki gazet, ale przede wszystkim argumentacja strony rządowej, która jest głównym odpowiedzialnym za nadzór prac prowadzonych przez NSA. W efekcie praca ma wzbudzić refleksje na temat granic prawa działań wywiadowczych na rzecz bezpieczeństwa państwa oraz granic ingerencji wywiadu w życie prywatne obywateli.

The aim of the thesis is to approach functioning of the National Security Agency after September 11, 2001. The historical outline is to help understand how important are intelligence processes inside the work of NSA. In addition, the thesis shows that it is significant to understand the overall picture of the controversy related to the activities of the Agency after 9/11 - not just articles and headlines, but most of all the arguments of the government, which is the main responsible for the supervision of work carried out by the NSA. As a result, the thesis shall inspire a reflection on the limits of the law of intelligence for national security and intelligence limits of interference in the private life of citizens.
