Praca ta stanowi analizę „Włoskich szpilek” Magdaleny Tulli ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na kwestię wykluczania, która został uznana przez autorkę rozprawy za fundamentalny problem powieści. Toksyczną relację matka – córka potraktowano jako punkt wyjścia do kolejnych omawianych problemów, takich jak komunikacja, przekaz uniwersalny powieści, tożsamość i postpamięć. Pierwszy rozdział pracy został poświęcony szeroko rozumianemu wykluczeniu, którego bohaterka powieści doświadcza na różnych płaszczyznach życia. Przy wykorzystaniu fragmentów rozmów z Tulli poruszona zostaje sprawa, specyficznie, rozumianego przez nią pisania – jako próby komunikacji z czytelnikiem. Ważnym problemem w przypadku „Włoskich szpilek” jest zagadnienie wykorzystanych w powieści przez Magdalenę Tulli wątków autobiograficznych. Drugi rozdział pracy został poświęcony kwestii tożsamości. Poddano analizie czynniki wpływające destruktywnie na podmiotowość bohaterki, wzmagające poczucie wyobcowania. Wśród czynników tych można wymienić: relacje matka-córka, polsko – włoskie korzenie i postpamięć. W licencjacie postpamięć ukazano jako doświadczenie jednostki, mające charakter piętna, które sprawia, że bohaterka pozostaje w ciągłym zawieszeniu na granicy światów, nie należąc do żadnej wspólnoty.

The thesis is based on analysis of “Włoskie Szpilki” (“The Italian High Heels”), the novel by Magdalena Tulli. The authoress of the study considers the problem of exclusion to be the fundamental question of the book. Presentation of the toxic mother daughter relationship is the starting point for discussion about interpersonal communication, cultural and national identity as well as postmemory. The first chapter, devoted to the question of exclusion shows the problem in numerous aspects. Using passages from the interview with Tulli the authoress discusses her peculiar art of writing attempting to communicate with readers. Autobiographical threads running through the novel are an important feature of “The Italian High Heels”. Identity is the main subject of the second chapter. Close analysis shows the factors destructively influencing heroine’s personality and increasing the feeling of alienation. They are: relationship between mother and daughter, heroine’s Polish and Italian origins and postmemory. The last-mentioned element considered in the dissertation as an experience of an excluding stigma. It causes that the heroine lives in limbo between the worlds, not belonging to any community.
