The dissertation embraces the characteristics of the Roaring Twenties in the United States of America. The social position of women, a breakthrough that was granting them the right to vote were given the consideration. A range of changes in social life and morals as well as the factors influencing the new shape of feminity were described. Particular attention was given to the historical background that had a great effect on the moral revolution and redefinition of female roles. On the basis of notions such as fashion, style or trends it has been analysed how they influence the social life and what mechanisms originate the existing fashions. The transition from the Victorian woman to a modern flapper has been thoroughly described.The most important components of Roaring twenties fashion have been listed and their significance explained. The prominent fashion designers and their impact upon the fashion industry have been mentioned.
