The book of the proscribed people as memory space of a medieval city

The article is devoted to the question of whether and how a medieval city (on the example of Cracow) and the book of the proscribed people of that time became a memory space. In this way the city appears as a palimpsest with traces of old scraped or washed off texts and as a filter through which its social structure and its social changes can be observed. Thus the delinquency is assigned to the everyday life of city inhabitants and is perceived as a permanent part of urban life. In addition, an attempt was made to analyze German text fragments from a language perspective, which initiated phonemic-graphemic and dialectological research on selected linguistic material from Cracow.

Der Beitrag behandelt am Beispiel Krakau die Frage, ob bzw. wie ein mittelalterliches Achtbuch als Gedächtnisraum betrachtet werden darf. Somit erscheint die Stadt als Palimpsest und Filter, dank denen ihre soziale Struktur sowie der gesellschaftliche Wandel nachvollziehbar sind. Auf diese Art und Weise wird die Kriminalität als fester Bestandteil des Stadtlebens dem Alltag der Stadtbewohner zugeschrieben. Außerdem wird versucht, die auf Deutsch verfassten Textpassagen unter sprachwissenschaftlichem Blickwinkel zu analysieren, wodurch phonematisch-graphematische und dialektologische Untersuchungen des gewählten Sprachmaterials initiiert werden sollen.
