The Outsider of Albert Camus : the biographical and literary contexts

Celem niniejszej pracy jest pogłębiona analiza Obcego, jednego z najsłynniejszych utworów Alberta Camusa. Praca składa się z trzech części. Otwiera ją prezentacja biografii francuskiego pisarza i filozofa. Następnie, analizowana jest dogłębnie strona formalna powieści; kategoria récit odgrywa znaczącą rolę w tej analizie. W dalszej kolejności zaprezentowany jest wydźwięk filozoficzny utworu. W konkluzji praca przywołuje związki powieści Camusa z współczesną powieścią Meursault, contre-enquête Algierczyka Kamela Daouda.

The aim of the thesis is to present an analysis of The Outsider, one of the best known novels of Albert Camus. The work contains three parts. In the beginning, the biography of the French author is presented. Later, the formal issues of the novel are analysed precisely : the cathegory of the récit plays the main role in this analysis. The philosophical sense of the novel is also taken into consideration. In the conclusion, the relationship between The Outsider and Meursault, contre-enquête, a contemporary Algerian novel by Kamel Daoud is evoked.

Le but de ce mémoire est d'analyser L'Étranger, l'un des écrits les plus connus d'Albert Camus. Le mémoire est composé des trois parties essentielles. Elle s'ouvre par présenter la biographie du romancier et philosophe français. Dans la suite, le côté formel de L'Étranger est précisément analysé. La catégorie du récit joue un rôle décisif dans cette analyse. Le côté formel analysé, le mémoire se concentre sur la portée philosophique du roman. En guise de conclusion, est évoqué le lien du roman camusien avec le roman contemporain algérien, Meursault, contre-enquête de Kamel Daoud.
