Male and female relationships in Marek Hłasko’s prose in the context of gender studies

Celem niniejszej pracy była analiza prozy Marka Hłaski w kontekście studiów gender. Posłużyłam się w niej powieścią Następny do raju oraz kilkoma opowiadaniami z tomu Pierwszy krok w chmurach, które to pozycje należą do literatury drugiej połowy XX wieku. Dzieła Hłaski porównałam do nowoczesnych badań nad homospołecznością, męskością hegemoniczną oraz mizoginią. Badania te pozwoliły na nowe spojrzenie na prozę okresu socrealizmu oraz relacje damsko-męskie w tymże okresie.

The aim of this thesis was an analysis of Marek Hłasko’s prose in the context of gender studies. In the thesis, I have made use of the novel "Następny do raju" ("Next to paradise") along with several short stories from the "Pierwszy krok w chmurach" ("First step in the clouds") volume, both of which belong to the literature of the second part of the 21st century. I have compared Hłasko’s literary works to the contemporary studies on male homosocial desires, hegemonic masculinity and misogyny. Those studies have created a new perspective on the prose of social realism and the male and female relations in that time.
