Belt and Road Initiative - principles and methods of implementation in Asia and Europe

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zidentyfikowanie historycznych korzeni, założeń oraz metod wdrażania Inicjatywy Nowego Jedwabnego Szlaku (BRI) przez Chiny w Azji i Europie. Praca przedstawia problemy napotkane w procesie realizacji projektu oraz analizuje powstanie i rozwój BRI. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy rozdział analizuje historyczne tło Inicjatywy, jej współczesne cele oraz dwa odrębne szlaki: Ekonomiczny Pas Jedwabnego Szlaku oraz Morski Jedwabny Szlak XXI wieku. Drugi rozdział koncentruje się na analizie znaczenia krajów azjatyckich i regionu Bliskiego Wschodu w projekcie BRI. Trzeci rozdział skupia się na roli Europy w planach BRI oraz Formacie 16+1 w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono wpływowi wojny rosyjsko-ukraińskiej na realizację BRI w Europie.

The aim of this thesis is to identify the historical roots, assumptions and methods of China's implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in Asia and Europe. It outlines the problems encountered in the project implementation process and analyses the emergence and development of the BRI. The following paper consists of three chapters. The first chapter analyses the historical background of the Initiative, its contemporary goals, and two separate routes: the Economic Silk Road and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The second chapter focuses on analysing the importance of Asian countries and the Middle East region in the BRI project. The third chapter focuses on the role of Europe in the BRI plans and the 16+1 format in Central and Eastern Europe. Special attention is paid to the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the implementation of the BRI in Europe.
