Economic crisis in Greece and its influence on other EU countries

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie genezy i przebiegu kryzysu greckiego oraz jego wpływ na UE. Ramy współczesnego kryzysu gospodarczego obejmują lata 2008-2010, lecz jego korzenie sięgają okresu wcześniejszego niż rok 2008, a jego konsekwencje będą odczuwalne jeszcze przez wiele lat. W pracy zostały omówione podstawowe pojęcia odnoszące się do kryzysu gospodarczego, a także historyczne przykłady kryzysów na świecie w XX wieku. Zaprezentowany został stan greckiej gospodarki, najistotniejsze pobudki które przyczyniły się do wybuchu kryzysu. Została również omówiona postawa UE wobec kryzysu zaistniałego w Grecji, oraz cele i działania jakie zostały podjęte w ramach pomocy. Kolejno omówiono wpływ kryzysu greckiego na państwa należące do wspólnoty europejskiej. Zostały również wyciągnięte wnioski z recesji gospodarczej Grecji dla samej instytucji Unii Europejskiej.

The objective of the thesis is to present the origin and course of the Greek crisis as well as its influence of the European Union. The framework of the contemporary economic crisis includes the years from 2008 to 2010, however, its roots go back to the period earlier than the year 2008 whereas its consequences will still be felt for many years. In the thesis the basic notions regarding the economic crisis as well as historic examples of the world crises in the 20th century were described. The condition of the Greek economy and the most significant factors that contributed to the crisis were depicted. The attitude of the European Union towards the crisis in Greece as well as objectives and actions that were under taken as part of the aid were presented. Furthermore, the influence of the crisis on the countries belonging to the European Community was analyzed. The conclusions from the Greek economic recession for the institution of the European Union itself were also drawn.
