W skład panteonu bóstw wchodzą m. in.
Lakotas spiritual culture contains units, which for people who grew up in Christian faith have nothing to do with religion. They believe that nature and its every component are animated, even those things which for Europeans may seem to be soulless, e.g. rock and wind. Close connection with nature is truly sacred for Lakotas. Very expanded mythology is a part of their believes, it belongs to the present as long as to the past. It is not a collection of stories about supernatural or fantastic beings and events filed as primeval and unrealistic. Despite occurrence of supernatural forces it is a part of history and it is treated as such by traditionalists. The pantheon of Lakota deities contains, among others the Sun, the Moon and the Earth – entities (for us wholly material formations) well known to us, whites. It also includes the Rock – powerful being and a symbol of toughness, and Thunderbird – mythical creature arousing fear and respect. Lakotas everyday life was unify with theirs believes, religion was in the middle of interest of every single man, and thereby it had a huge impact on material culture of the nation. The purpose of this M.A. dissertation is thorough presentation of a complexities of a spiritual culture of the Lakota Nation and explanation of its meaning and points.
