Przedmiotem pracy jest omówienie dwóch zagadnień związanych z operą włoską początku XVIII wieku. Pierwszym jest biografia Leonarda Vinciego, kompozytora operowego współcześnie mało znanego, choć nowatorskiego i bardzo popularnego w swoich czasach. Drugim zagadnieniem jest historia i opis działalności Akademii Arkadyjskiej wraz z jej czołowym przedstawicielem w osobie Pietra Metastasia, jednego z najważniejszych librecistów operowych w historii tego gatunku. Na przykładzie ostatniego dzieła Leonarda Vinciego, opery "Artaserse", do którego libretto stworzył Pietro Metastasio, autor przybliżył sposoby muzycznej realizacji postulatów wyżej wymienionej instytucji, wpisujących się w nurt neoklasycyzmu w sztuce XVIII wieku.

Two issues connected to the topic of the 18th century italian opera is the substance of this essay. The first is a biography of Leonardo Vinci, an opera composer who is contemporarily poorly recognizable but was progressive and very popular during his times. The second issue is the history and activity's description of the Arcadian Academy and its leading representative, Pietro Metastasio, who was one of the most important librettists in the history of the opera genre. Taking into consideration "Artaserse", Leonardo Vinci's last work based upon the libretto by Pietro Metastasio, the autor of this essay analised methods of applying in music the postulates, of above mentioned institution, that co-created the neoclassical style in the 18th century art.
