IRONICZNY OBRAZ KODEKSU RYCERSKIEGO W PANU GAWENIE I ZIELONYM RYCERZU ORAZ „OPOWIEŚCI RYCERZA”

Zamysłem tej pracy magisterskiej jest ukazanie zastosowania ironii w przestawieniu kodeksu rycerskiego w dwóch angielskich romansach rycerskich, Pan Gawen i Zielony Rycerz oraz „Opowieść rycerza.” Praca jest podzielona na trzy rozdziały. Pierwszy omawia kontekst dotyczący realnego świata średniowiecznego rycerstwa i jego literackiego obrazu w romansach rycerskich oraz krótką historię badań dotyczących użycia ironii w przedstawieniu etosu w tym gatunku literackim oraz w powyżej wspomnianych dziełach. Pozostałe rozdziały zawierają analizy tychże romansów. Celem tych rozdziałów jest analiza określonych fragmentów które ukazują kodeks rycerski ironicznie oraz ustalenie które wartości są kwestionowane. Ostatni rozdział zawiera wnioski dotyczące podobieństw między dwoma utworami pod względem użycia ironii.

The main aim of this thesis is to identify the employment of irony in the representation of the chivalric ethos in two English romances, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and the “Knight’s Tale.” The work is divided into three chapters. The first one presents the general background to the study of chivalry and chivalric romances as well as the review of criticism concerning the use of irony in the genre and in analyzed works. The remaining two chapters are devoted to the analysis of the literary material. Each chapter focuses on the specific parts of the narrative that represent the knightly code in an ironic light and establish which specific virtues are questioned. The conclusions include the points concerning similarities between the two poems in the employment of irony.
