The Polish Losers’ Club in Berlin and the spaces of memory

The article focuses on the question of how two leading personalities of the club – Adam Gusowski and Piotr Mordel – relate to space and memory on diff erent levels. For example, their playful approach to both categories and memory spaces is shown through the study of their satirical interviews entitled The Conversation with an Interesting Person. Furthermore, the article investigates how cultural and communicative memory (for example the one of the Berlin area where the club is based or of the Poles) can be promoted, with the help of the club’s facilities. The text analyzes, among others, the role of the readings taking place in the club.

Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags steht die Frage, wie zwei leitende Persönlichkeiten des Clubs – Adam Gusowski und Piotr Mordel – Bezug auf Raum und Gedächtnis auf verschiedenen Ebenen nehmen. Ihr spielerischer Umgang mit den beiden Kategorien sowie Gedächtnisräumen wird beispielsweise anhand der satirischen Interviews mit dem Titel Das Gespräch mit einem interessanten Menschen veranschaulicht. Außerdem wird untersucht, wie das kulturelle und kommunikative Gedächtnis (z. B. der Berliner Gegend des Clubs oder der Polen) mithilfe der Räumlichkeiten des Clubs gefördert werden kann. Es wird u. a. überlegt, welche Rolle dafür die im Club stattfi ndenden Lesungen spielen.
