The traditional concept in K-pop as a tool for spreading Korean culture based on „LIT” by ONEUS

Niniejsza praca stanowi opis tradycji koreańskich w teledysku oraz utworze „LIT” k-popowego zespołu ONEUS. Przedstawia także obecność elementów tradycyjnych w scenografii podczas występów w programach muzycznych oraz teledysku, w tekście piosenki, strojach noszonych przez idoli czy układzie tanecznym. Wykazuje tym samym, jak poprzez te elementy zespół promuje kulturę koreańską wśród fanów K-popu.Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich wprowadza czytelnika w elementy tradycyjnej kultury koreańskiej, takie jak literatura, sztuka oraz folklor. Nacisk kładziony zostaje na koreańską poezję, malarstwo oraz architekturę, ludowe formy artystyczne oraz męskie stroje ludowe, hanboki. Kolejny rozdział skupia się na historii K-popu począwszy od czasów pojawienia się w Korei muzyki zachodniej pod koniec XIX w., aż po opis kolejnych generacji K-popu. Ukazana zostaje także krótka historia zespołu ONEUS.Ostatni rozdział stanowi analizę koreańskich elementów tradycyjnych obecnych w utworze „LIT”, jego teledysku oraz wybranych występach muzycznych. Zobrazowana zostaje także promocja tej kultury poprzez festiwale k-popowe.

This work contains a description of elements of Korean traditions in music video and song “LIT” by K-pop band ONEUS. It presents its existence in scenography during performances, song’s lyrics, clothes worn by members of the group and choreography. It thus demonstrates the promotion of Korean culture among K-pop fans through these elements. The work consists of three chapters. The first one is an introduction to the elements of Korean culture, such as literature, art and folklore. The strongest emphasis is put on poems, painting and architecture, folk’s art forms and men’s folk costume, hanbok.The next chapter focuses on history of K-pop, starting from the first appearance of western music in Korea in the 19th century to the descriptions of K-pop generations. In this part of the work, a short history of ONEUS is also presented to the reader.The last chapter is an analysis of Korean traditional elements presented in the song “LIT”, its music video and selected performances in music programs. The promotion of this culture is illustrated by introduction of K-pop festivals the band attended.
