„Inny egzystencjalizm”. Tropy egzystencjalistyczne w „Kamieniu filozoficznym" Marguerite Yourcenar w świetle powieści „Obcy" Alberta Camusa

"Another existentialism". Existentialist traces in Marguerite Yourcenar's "The Abyss" in the light of Albert Camus's "The Stranger"

Autor proponuje zestawienie „Obcego” (1942) Alberta Camusa oraz „Kamienia filozoficznego” (1968) Marguerite Yourcenar w celu usytuowania belgijskiej powieściopisarki jako akolity dominującego ruchu filozoficznego epoki, egzystencjalizmu. W tekście wyszczególnione zostały liczne podobieństwa pomiędzy dwojgiem pisarzy, m.in: absurdalna wizja życia, trangresywny status obcego cechujący protagonistów, dostrzegalny prymat egzystencji nad przeciwstawioną jej esencją. Autor wskazuje na obecność motywów charakterystycznych dla myśli egzystencjalnej, co staje się przyczynkiem do wyłożenia zawartej w dziełach filozofii jako manifestacji humanizmu egzystencjalnego teoretyzowanego przez Jean-Paul Sartre’a.

The author of the dissertation seeks to establish a comparison between Albert Camus's “The Stranger”/“The Outsider” (1942) and Marguerite Yourcenar's “The Abyss” (1968) in order to situate the Belgian novelist as an acolyte of a major philosophical movement of the time - existentialism. In the text several similarities between the two novels were highlighted, including: the absurd vision of life, the transgressive status of the protagonists as outsiders, and the remarkable primacy of existence over essence. The author of the dissertation points the presence of main thoughts in existentialism and goes as far as to explain the presence of the characteristics of philosophy of the two novels in question as a manifestation of existential humanism presented by Jean-Paul Sartre.

L’auteur du mémoire cherche à établir une comparaison entre « L’Étranger » (1942) d’Albert Camus et « L’Œuvre au noir » (1968) de Marguerite Yourcenar afin de situer la romancière belge en tant qu’une acolyte d’un courant philosophique majeur de l’époque, l’existentialisme. Dans le texte, plusieurs similitudes entre les deux romans ont été mises en évidences, parmi lesquelles : la vision absurde de la vie, le statut transgressif d’un étranger conféré aux protagonistes, le primat remarquable de l’existence opposée à l’essence. L’auteur du mémoire indique la présence des motifs spécifiques à la pensée existentielle afin d’expliquer la philosophie propre aux deux romans en question en tant que manifestation d’un humanisme existentiel, thématisé par Jean-Paul Sartre.
