Urban legend as an example of contemporary russian and polish folklore

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie gatunku legendy miejskiej w odniesieniu do folkloru rosyjskiego oraz polskiego. We wstępie zostaje scharakteryzowane zjawisko folkloru, które przez większą część społeczeństwa kojarzone jest tylko i wyłącznie z kulturą ludową. Pogląd ten zostaje podany w wątpliwość dzięki różnego rodzaju odmianom folkloru, jak chociażby folklor miejski oraz "cyberfolklor". We wstępie wyjaśniona jest także różnica między folklorem, a folkloryzmem. W rozdziale pierwszym znajdują się przykłady myślenia mitycznego w odniesieniu do współczesnego społeczeństwa, a także historia i charakterystyka gatunku legendy miejskiej. W rozdziale drugim znajdują się konkretne przykłady legendy miejskiej, funkcjonujące w Rosji oraz Polsce.

The purpose of this work is to present a urban legend in relation to the folklore of Russia and Poland.Introduction is about characterization of urban folklore that is associated only with the folk culture mostly. This view has been challenged by the different kinds of varieties of folklore, like the urban folklore and “cyberfolklor” as well. The difference between folklore and folklorism is also explained in the introduction.The first chapter shows examples of mythical thinking in relation to modern society, also the history and characteristic of the species urban legend. The second chapter shows concrete examples of urban legend operating in Russia and Poland.
