The role of green areas for local development in a big city

Celem pracy jest poznanie roli terenów zieleni dla rozwoju lokalnego w dużym mieście poprzez porównanie polityki trzech miast – Łodzi, Krakowa oraz Wrocławia. Badając rolę terenów zielonych w tych miastach, organizacje które są odpowiedzialne za te tereny, budżet oraz środki finansowania, można zauważyć, że należy podjąć wiele kroków, aby zarządzanie było skuteczne i prowadziło do ochrony i utrzymania terenów zielonych. Polityka zarządzania zielenią miejską w badanych miastach jest podobna. Jej głównym celem jest zapewnienie dużej ilości terenów zielonych w celach estetycznych, zdrowotnych oraz rekreacyjnych.

The aim of my thesis is to learn about the role of green areas for local development in a large city by comparing the policies of three Polish cities: Łódź, Kraków and Wrocław. By studying the role of green areas in these cities, organizations that are responsible for these areas, the budget and funding measures, it can be seen, that many measures must be taken, in order to ensure effective management, leading to protection and maintenance of green spaces.The policy of urban greenery management in the examined cities is similar; it is main objective is to provide a large number of green areas for aesthetic, health and recreation purposes.
