Specific attention functions and executive functions in children with autism spectrum disorder based on individual research

Celem niniejszej pracy było porównanie specyficznych funkcjach uwagi i funkcji wykonawczych u dzieci ze spektrum autyzmu i dzieci neurotypowych. W badaniu wykorzystano standaryzowane testy (wybrane podtesty Baterii diagnozy funkcji poznawczych PU1, Test Płynności Figuralnej Ruffa) oraz opracowane zadanie w paradygmacie Stroopa. Łącznie wzięły w nim udział 52 osoby w wieku 10-13 lat. Postawiono hipotezy dotyczące różnic w selektywności uwagi, przeszukiwaniu pola percepcyjnego, płynności (werbalnej i niewerbalnej), hamowaniu oraz pamięci roboczej. Główne hipotezy dotyczące różnic w sprawności funkcji wykonawczych oraz funkcji uwagi potwierdziły się tylko częściowo. Otrzymane wyniki badań ujawniły różnice w poziomie wykonania zadań dotyczących przeszukiwania pola percepcyjnego, selektywności uwagi oraz płynności werbalnej (p<0,05), gdzie dzieci z ASD otrzymały niższe wyniki. W testach sprawdzających płynność niewerbalną, hamowanie oraz pamięć roboczą nie otrzymano znaczących statystycznie różnic, wskazując tym samym na możliwe istnienie zachowanych zasobów. Trzecia hipoteza dotycząca ilości perseweracji została sfalsyfikowana, różnice pomiędzy grupami nie były istotne.

The purpose of this work was to compare specific attention functions and executive functions between children with autism spectrum disorders and neurotypical children. The study included standardized tests (selected subtests of the PU-1 Set of Diagnostic Tests, The Ruff Figural Fluency Test) and a Stroop Color and Word task. A Total number of 52 children aged 10-13 took part in the study. The hypothesis set out regarded differences in selectiveness, visual search, fluency (verbal and nonverbal), inhibition and working memory. The hypothesis regarding differences in the efficiency of executive functions and attention functions was partially confirmed. The results showed differences in the level of tasks completion concerning visual search, selectiveness and verbal fluency (p<0,05), in which children with ASD received lower scores. In tests verifying nonverbal fluency, inhibition and working memory no statistically significant differences were found, suggesting possible preserved resources. The third hypothesis regarding the number of perseverations was found to be false, with differences between groups deemed insignificant.
