The writing of biographies at the columns of The Library Reviews after Second World War

The article is devoted to the biographical method and writing of biographies in The Library Reviews. At the outset there were presented basic issues related to the methodology – the key definitions, a method of the research and various classifications of research's strategies. The next part presents the basic issues related to the biographical method. It discusses its history, typologies and its usage in the various social sciences. Additionally, there was made the characteristic of The Library Reviews. It describes the history of the periodical, its creators, the content range and the layout of the quarterly. In the last part there was made the precise characteristic of the writing of biographies in The Library Reviews. Particular attention was paid to the types of the articles placed in the periodical and to the form of commemoration of the dead

Praca poświęcona jest kwestii metody biograficznej i biografistyki w Przeglądzie Bibliotecznym. Na wstępie zaprezentowane zostały podstawowe zagadnienia związane z samą metodologią – kluczowe definicje, sposób prowadzenia badań i różnorodne klasyfikacje strategii badawczych. W dalszej części przedstawione zostały podstawowe kwestie związane metoda biograficzną. Omówiono jej historię, typologie oraz zastosowanie w różnych naukach społecznych. Ponadto dokonana została charakterystyka Przeglądu Bibliotecznego. Opisano historię periodyku, jego twórców oraz zakres treściowy i szatę graficzną kwartalnika. W ostatniej części dokonana została dokładna charakterystyka biografistyki w Przeglądzie Bibliotecznym. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na typy zamieszczanych w periodyku artykułów i formę upamiętniania zmarłych.
