Synchronia, adaptacja i błędy tłumaczeniowe w polskim dubbingu filmu Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny

Niniejsza praca analizuje jakość i odbiór polskiego tłumaczenia i dubbingu filmu Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny w kontekście synchronii. Pierwszy rozdział skupia się na funkcji tłumaczenia audiowizualnego i bada różne typy synchronii zaproponowane przez takich badaczy i praktyków dubbingu jak Istvan Fodor, Eithne O’Connell i C. Whitman-Linsen, jak również wspomina o kontrowersjach związanych z synchronią fonetyczną będącą czynnikiem ograniczającym, lecz także motywującym tłumaczy audiowizualnych. Drugi rozdział rozważa obecność aspektów kulturowych w serii filmów o Harrym Potterze, w tym wyzwań dla tłumaczy, jakimi są brytyjska sceneria i odniesienia do kultury brytyjskiej, a także stara się wychwycić elementy intertekstualności i meta-narracji zawartych w tej serii. Trzeci rozdział zawiera ocenę wybranych scen z filmu Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny. Wybrane fragmenty oryginalnej listy dialogowej i polskiego dubbingu zostają porównane i skomentowane w celu zademonstrowania wyzwań obecnych podczas tworzenia udanego tłumaczenia audiowizualnego. Końcową ocenę polskiego dubbingu zawarto w podsumowaniu. Do pracy dołączony jest aneks składający się z transkrypcji oryginalnej angielskiej ścieżki dźwiękowej, polskiego dubbingu oraz polskich napisów, umieszczonych w trzech równoległych kolumnach, co stanowi całość materiału badawczego i ułatwia porównanie trzech ww. wersji.

This thesis analyses the quality and reception of Polish translation and dubbing of the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the context of synchrony. The first chapter focuses on the function of audiovisual translation and explores various types of synchrony proposed by AVT scholars, practitioners and researchers such as Istvan Fodor, Eithne O’Connell and C. Whitman-Linsen, and refers to controversies around phonetic synchrony as a factor limiting and motivating audiovisual translation. The second chapter considers the cultural impact of the Harry Potter films, particularly the challenges posed by the British setting and references to British culture and also establishes the degree of intertextuality and meta-narratives that are contained in the films. The third chapter is an evaluation of selected scenes from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Relevant excerpts from the original English dialogue list and the Polish dubbed version are compared and commented upon to illustrate the challenges and technicalities of creating successful AVT. The final evaluation of the Polish dubbing is presented in the Conclusions section. The thesis is supplemented with tabulated transcriptions of the original English dubbing, Polish dubbing, and Polish subtitles presented in parallel, serving as reference material and facilitating the comparison of the three versions.
