Citizenship of the European Union

Praca niniejsza ma na celu przybliżenie pojęcia oraz problemów związanych z obywatelstwem Unii Europejskiej. Przedstawia podstawy prawne, przybliża historię oraz prezentuje prawa przynależne osobom podlegającym tej instytucji. Zawiera również rozważania o jej obecnym stanie i elementów, które mają na to wpływ. W tym zakresie jest także próbą określenia powodu, dla którego omawiana instytucja jest uznawana za nie do końca udaną. Znaczącym elementem pracy jest również porównanie obywatelstwa Unii Europejskiej do obywatelstwa narodowego a w szczególności obywatelstwa państwa członkowskiego Unii Europejskiej.

This work aims to bring the concept and problems related to citizenship of the European Union closer. It presents the legal basis, history and the rights belonging to persons subject to this institution. It also contains considerations about its current state and elements that have an impact on it. It is also an attempt to determine the reason why the institution in question is considered to be not entirely successful. An important element of this work is also the comparison of citizenship of the European Union to national citizenship, in particular, citizenship of a Member State of the European Union.
