The strange absence of the notion of "discursive" identity in the "Treaty of argumentation" : a logico-grammatical approach

W artykule zaproponowano omówienie pewnych niezgodności między nową retoryką a niektórymi założeniami analizy dyskursu. Pomijając niechęć lingwistów do gramatyki postrzeganej jako dyscyplina pomocnicza logiki, w artykule naszkicowano odpowiedź na interesujące pytanie postawione przez Michaela Leffa (2009). Naszym zdaniem nowa retoryka, wyraźnie obojętna na różnorodność sytuacji komunikacyjnych, powraca do dziedzictwa zarówno starożytnego jak i współczesnego, koncentrując się na analizie struktur argumentacyjnych opartych na skojarzeniach i rozróżnieniach plastycznych pojęć reprezentujących myśli lub idee. Dyskusję zilustrowano tekstami dotyczącymi debaty na temat małżeństw osób tej samej płci.

The article proposes to discuss certain incompatibilities between the New Rhetoric and some presuppositions of Discourse Analysis. Setting aside Linguist’s contempt for a Grammar conceived as an ancillary discipline of Logic, it sketches an answer to an interesting question posed by Michael Leff (2009). In our view, explicitly indifferent to the variety of communication situations, the New Rhetoric revisits Ancient and Modern heritage focusing on the analysis of argumentative structures based on associations and dissociations of malleable notions, which represent thoughts or ideas. The discussion is illustrated by texts relating to the debate on same-sex marriage.

Cet article propose d'examiner certaines incompatibilités entre la nouvelle rhétorique et certains présupposés de l'analyse du discours. À rebours du mépris des linguistes pour la grammaire, considérée comme une discipline auxiliaire de la logique, la présente contribution esquisse une réponse à une intéressante question posée par Michael Leff (2009). À notre avis, explicitement indifférente à la diversité des situations de communication étudiées en elles-mêmes et pour elles-mêmes, la nouvelle rhétorique cherche plutôt à revisiter un héritage antique et moderne en se concentrant avant tout sur l'analyse des structures argumentatives fondées sur les associations et les dissociations de notions malléables, qui représentent des pensées ou des idées. La discussion est illustrée par des textes relatifs au débat sur le mariage des couples de même sexe.
