The cultural identity of the Tatar minority in Poland

Poniższa praca zajmuje się tematyką zachowania tożsamości kulturowej i ciągłości trwania mniejszości tatarskiej w Polsce. Jej celem jest ocena stopnia asymilacji tej mniejszości oraz określenie działań dążących do zachowania tożsamości kulturowej polskich Tatarów. Pytania badawcze dotyczyły możliwości nastąpienia w najbliższym czasie całkowitej asymilacji Tatarów i zatracenia przez nich odrębności i własnych tradycji, zwyczajów, w których Tatarzy przejawiają swoją tożsamość kulturową oraz funkcji, jakie współcześnie pełnią tatarskie wioski. Praca została przeprowadzona w oparciu o przeprowadzone wywiady z osobami pochodzącymi ze społeczności tatarskiej, przeprowadzono kartowanie terenowe w tatarskiej wiosce Kruszyniany oraz skorzystano z dostępnych materiałów źródłowych naukowej literatury.

This thesis refers to the topic of maintaining cultural identity and the continuity of the Tatar minority in Poland. This study investigated the degree of assimilation of this minority and defined activities to preserve the cultural identity of Polish Tatars. The research questions concern the possibility of complete assimilation of the Tatars in the near future and the loss of their distinctiveness and the traditions in which the Tatars manifest their cultural identity and functions that Tatar villages realize today. The thesis was conducted based on interviews with people from the Tatar community, field mapping in the Tatar village of Kruszyniany, and available scientific literature sources.
