Translation of phraseology - the borderland between stylistics and theory of translation based on the Spanish - Polish comparison.

The topic of my thesis is translation of phraseology - the borderland between stylistics and theory of translation based on the Spanish - Polish comparison. I chose this topic to understand better the linguistic image of the world included in the phraseology of the Spanish language and to find similarities, differences and equivalents in Polish language. Comparing phrasal compounds which exist in different languages has always attracted great interest. This is due to the fact that the phraseology plays an important role in the reconstruction of the world, which is contained in the language. It allows to better understand the culture of another nation, and the way in which it categorizes the world. Similar language stereotypes may be proof of that a certain group has similar connotations. In the first chapter of my work, I tried to draw attention to the fundamental difficulties resulting from differences in the structures of the Polish and Spanish language. In subsequent chapters, I explained what individual researchers understand by the term idiomatic phrase and on what bases they make divisions.Although this problem can be described more broadly, I confined myself to the classification of Stanislaw Skorupka, Andrzej Maria Lewicki, Julio Casares, Eugene Coseriu, and Alberto Zuluaga. Spain is a country located in the western part of Europe, because of it its inhabitants have a slightly different experience than the Poles. Despite of this, analysis of examples of Mendoza's novel suggests that in some cases they share way of looking at the world, which facilitates translation of phraseological compounds. Examples given in this chapter served to illustrate the problem of translation of phraseology. Some of these were characteristic of spoken language.My aim was to show the phraseology in Spanish and Polish language from the similarities and differences, I hope that in the last chapter I achieved this aim.

Tematem mojej pracy jest tłumaczenie frazeologii – pogranicze stylistyki i teorii tłumaczeń w ujęciu porównawczym hiszpańsko – polskim. Wybrałam go, aby lepiej poznać językowy obraz świata zawarty we frazeologii języka hiszpańskiego i znaleźć podobieństwa, różnice oraz ekwiwalenty w języku polskim. Porównywanie związków frazeologicznych istniejących w różnych językach od zawsze cieszyło się dużym zainteresowaniem. Spowodowane jest to faktem, iż frazeologia odgrywa ważną rolę w procesie rekonstrukcji świata, jaki zawarty jest języku, gdyż dzięki niej możemy lepiej poznać kulturę innego narodu oraz sposób, w jaki kategoryzuje świat. Podobne stereotypy językowe mogą być dowodem na to, iż pewna grupa ma podobne skojarzenia.W pierwszym rozdziale mojej pracy starałam się zwrócić uwagę na podstawowe trudności będące wynikiem odmienności struktur języka polskiego i hiszpańskiego. W kolejnych rozdziałach wytłumaczyłam, co poszczególni badacze, polscy i hiszpańskojęzyczni, rozumieją poprzez termin związek frazeologiczny i na jakiej podstawie dokonują ich podziałów. Pomimo iż problem ten można było opisać szerzej, ja ograniczyłam się do klasyfikacji Stanisława Skorupki, Andrzeja Marii Lewickiego, Julio Casaresa, Eugene Coseriu, oraz Alberto Zuluagi. Sądzę jednak, że w odpowiedni sposób ukazały one różnice w sposobach klasyfikowania związków frazeologicznych.Hiszpania jest krajem położonym w zachodniej części Europy, dlatego jej mieszkańcy mają nieco inne doświadczenia niż Polacy. Mimo to, analiza przykładów z powieści Mendozy wskazuje na to, że w niektórych przypadkach podzielają sposób patrzenia na świat, co ułatwia tłumaczenie związków frazeologicznych. Podane w tym rozdziale przykłady służyły również do zobrazowanie problemu przekładu frazeologii. Niektóre z nich były charakterystyczne dla języka mówionego.Moim celem było pokazanie frazeologii języka hiszpańskiego i polskiego od strony podobieństw oraz różnic, mam nadzieję, że w ostatnim rozdziel udało mi się osiągnąć ten cel.
