The position of left-wing parties in Poland after 1989

Tematem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest szczegółowa analiza pozycji partii lewicowych w Polsce po 1989 roku. Rozprawa podzielona została na sześć rozdziałów. W pierwszej części przedstawiona została charakterystyka partii lewicowych oparta na genezie pojęcia ,,lewica”, założeniach doktrynalnych oraz ich praktycznej implementacji na współczesnej polskiej scenie politycznej. W drugiej części pracy poruszone zostało zagadnienie upadku Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej, rozpadu Polskiej Zjednoczonej Partii Robotniczej i konsekwencji wspominanych wydarzeń dla ugrupowań lewicowych w Polsce. Trzecia część pracy poświęcona została działalności partii lewicowych w czasie II, III, i IV kadencji Sejmu RP oraz III, IV, a także V Senatu RP. Analogiczne treści przedstawiono w rozdziale czwartym pracy, w stosunku do działalności V, VI oraz VII kadencji Sejmu RP, jak również VI, VII i VIII Senatu RP. W przedostatniej części pracy dokonano analizy i interpretacji czynników, które spowodowały pozostanie ugrupowań lewicowych poza Parlamentem Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej oraz przedstawiono inicjatywy tychże zrzeszeń, podejmowane w czasie trwania VII kadencji Sejmu RP i IX kadencji Senatu RP. Szósty rozdział pracy poświęcony został ukazaniu pozycji partii lewicowych w latach 2019-2020. Nadrzędnym celem pracy magisterskiej było ukazanie charakterystyki ugrupowań lewicowych, zmiany ich pozycji w Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej po 1989 roku, a także przedstawienie przeobrażeń w nastrojach społecznych, w wyniku których zmieniało się poparcie dla tychże stronnictw. Analiza powstała w oparciu o interpretację wyników wyborczych oraz sprawowanych przez lewicę funkcji w systemie zarządzania państwem. W efekcie zaprezentowane zostały odpowiedzi na pytania: jak po 1989 roku zmieniała się pozycja partii lewicowych i jakie czynniki miały na to wpływ.

The subject of this Master's thesis is a detailed analysis of the position of left-wing parties in Poland after 1989. The thesis was divided into six chapters. The first part presents the characteristics of left-wing parties, based on the genesis of the term "left-wing", doctrinal assumptions and their practical implementation on the contemporary Polish political scene. In the second part of the dissertation, the issue of the collapse of the PRL, the disintegration of the PZPR and the consequences of these events for left-wing parties in Poland is discussed. The third part of the work is devoted to the activity of left-wing parties during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th terms of the Sejm RP and the 3rd, 4th and 5th Senate RP. Analogous content is presented in the fourth chapter of the work, in relation to the activities of the 5th, 6th and 7th terms of the Sejm RP, as well as the 6th, 7th and 8th terms of the Senate RP. The penultimate part of the work analyses and interprets the factors that caused left-wing associations to remain outside the Parliament of the Republic of Poland, as well as the initiatives of these associations undertaken during the 7th term of the Sejm RP and the 9th term of the Senate RP. The sixth chapter of the thesis was devoted to showing the position of left-wing parties in the years 2019-2020. The primary aim of the thesis was to show the characteristics of left-wing parties, the changes in their position in the Republic of Poland after 1989, as well as to present the transformations in public sentiment as a result of which the support for these parties changed. The analysis was based on the interpretation of electoral results and functions of the left wing in the system of state governance. As a result, answers to the following questions were presented: how the position of the left wing parties changed after 1989 and what factors had an impact on it.
