Migration as the XXI century European challenge. Selected issues

The aim of this thesis is to describe selected aspects of migration as the European challenge in the XXI century. It is the collection of information from economics, sociology, psychology and demographics combined to create a complementary and versatile picture of migration. The thesis presents the assumptions of migratiology – the nature, types and forms of migration and the causes and factors determining migration. It represents the population mobility in the context of the European Union’s Internal Market – the essence of the internal market, free movement of persons and the norms of the Schengen. It includes a theoretical consideration on migration in the globalization era, that is the mass scale and directions of international migration, the characteristics of contemporary migration and new forms of international migration – migration of women. It also presents the dialectic of challenges and threats in terms of migration, i.e. the effects of international migration, European Union migration concerns and migration as a real threat to European security.

Celem pracy jest opis wybranych zagadnień migracji jako wyzwania Europy w XXI wieku. Jest ona zbiorem informacji z ekonomii, socjologii, psychologii i demografii, połączonych by stworzyć obraz migracji komplementarny i wielostronny. Praca przedstawia założenia migracjologii - istotę, rodzaje i formy oraz przyczyny i czynniki determinujące. Reprezentuje mobilność ludności na tle rynku wewnętrznego Unii Europejskiej - istotę rynku wewnętrznego, swobodę przepływu osób oraz unormowania z Schengen. Zawiera rozważanie teoretyczne na temat migracji w dobie globalizacji, czyli masowość i kierunki migracji międzynarodowych, cechy współczesnych migracji oraz nowe formy migracji międzynarodowych - migracja kobiet. Przedstawia także dialektykę wyzwań i zagrożeń w aspekcie migracji, czyli skutki migracji międzynarodowych, migracyjne problemy Unii Europejskiej oraz migracje jako realne zagrożenie dla bezpieczeństwa Europy.
