The role and tasks of the school counsellor in the opinion of parents of primary and secondary school students

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy w szerszym sensie jest rola i zadania pedagoga szkolnego od początków funkcjonowania pedagoga o tej specjalności w polskiej szkole, aż do obecnych czasów. Obszar badań własnych wyznaczony został przez przyjęcie nowej perspektywy w badaniach nad tym zagadnieniem, wysuwającej na pierwszy plan opinie rodziców uczniów, z którymi pracuje ten specjalista. Zastosowanie w badaniach skonstruowanego specjalnie w tym celu kwestionariusza ankiety pozwoliło na zebranie bogatego materiału badawczego. Analizie poddano odpowiedzi respondentów ze 101 kwestionariuszy. Pozwoliło to na wyłonienie dominujących opinii rodziców na tematy będące przedmiotem badań. Na tej podstawie sformułowano wnioski z badań. Zdaniem rodziców, najważniejszą z ról pedagoga szkolnego jest rola specjalisty udzielającego szeroko pojętej pomocy uczniom oraz udzielającej wsparcia rodzicom w rozwiązywaniu problemów wychowawczych. Najważniejsze zadania pedagoga powinny polegać na wykrywaniu i rozpoznawaniu problemów, z jakimi uczniowie mają do czynienia w szkole i w rodzinie oraz podejmowaniu działań zmierzających do ich rozwiązywania.

The presented thesis's broader field of interest is the school counsellor's role and tasks in the Polish school. The area of research study is determined by a new research perspective concerning parents opinions. Implementation of a purposely constructed survey questionnaire permitted the gathering of rich research material. The answers of respondents from 101 questionnaires were analysed. This allowed the identification of dominant themes in parents opinions. On this basis, research conclusions were formulated. In parents opinion, the most crucial school educator's role is to be a specialist granting help to pupils and granting support to parents dealing with educational problems of their children. The most important tasks of the school counsellor are identification, diagnostics and resolving of school and family problems of students.
