System, structure and functioning of the Polish prison management.

Celem pracy jest omówienie problematyki związanej z instytucją jaką jest więzienie. Szczególnej analizie poddana została sama instytucja, więźniowie oraz pracownicy więzienia. Podstawowym pytaniem, dzięki którym podjęte zostały wszelkie rozważania jest Czy państwo polskie w pełni realizuje misję ochrony społeczeństwa w zakresie polityki penitencjarnej oraz czy wszelkie działania z tym związane są w pełni skuteczne oraz efektywne? Praca rozpoczęta została genezą więziennictwa w Polsce. Przedstawiono typy, rodzaje oraz systemy zakładów karnych. Następnie opisani zostali więźniowie, ich prawa, obowiązki, język używany przez nich za murami oraz grupy, do których przynależą. Dokonano także analizy resocjalizacji, jej sposobów oraz skuteczności. Praca pokazuje również obraz Służby Więziennej. Ukazano charakterystykę personelu więziennego, jego zadania oraz na czym polega sama praca i kto może ją otrzymać. Na sam koniec przedstawiono najważniejsze akty prawne związane z funkcjonowaniem więziennictwa w Polsce.

The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the issues connected with the institution of prison. Special attention was given to the institution itself, prisoners and prison personnel. The main question of this thesis is whether the Polish State is fully implementing the mission of protecting the public in penitentiary policy and whether all activities related to it are fully effective and efficient? Work begins with a genesis of prison in Poland. It talks about the types and systems of penal institutions. Furthermore it describes prisoners, their rights, their duties, the language they use behind the walls and the groups they belong to. The analysis of resocialization, its methods and effectiveness is also presented. Moreover the thesis talks about Prison Service. The characteristics of the prison staff, their tasks, what the work itself is and who can receive it. At the very end, the most important legal acts related to the functioning of the Prison System in Poland are presented.
