Celem pracy jest analiza przepisów dotyczących urzędu prezydenta. Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia ewolucję instytucji w polskim systemie ustrojowym, rozpoczynając od Konstytucji Marcowej kończąc na Małej Konstytucji z 17 października 1992r. W rozdziale drugim przedstawiono proces wyboru prezydenta i opis organów upoważnionych do ich organizacji i przeprowadzenia. Trzeci rozdział zawiera kompetencje Prezydenta RP podzielone ze względu na pełnione przez niego funkcje: najwyższego przedstawiciela państwa, gwaranta ciągłości władzy, strażnika Konstytucji i arbitra politycznego. Ostatnim etapem rozważań jest odpowiedzialność głowy państwa i tryb jej realizowania.
The aim of the study is to analyze the provisions concerning the office of the president. The first chapter presents the evolution of institutions in the Polish political system, starting with the March Constitution ending with the Small Constitution of 17 October 1992. The second chapter presents the process of electing a president and a description of the bodies empowered to their organization and conduct. The third chapter contains the powers of the President of Poland divided over the functions performed by him: highest representative of the State, the guarantor of the continuity of power, the guardian of the Constitution and the political arbiter. The final stage of consideration is the responsibility of the head of state and the mode of its implementation.
