The dualistic image of Peru in the biography of José María Arguedas and his novel “The deep rivers”

Celem poniższej pracy jest przedstawienie wizerunku Peru jako kraju podzielonego między dwoma różnymi światami. Na podstawie powieści José Marii Arguedasa zatytułowanej „Głębokie rzeki” została dokonana analiza społeczeństwa, kultury i dwujęzyczności kraju. Praca przybliża także problematykę metysażu kultur oraz zróżnicowania językowego i geograficznego Peru, które odgrywają ważną rolę w interpretacji twórczości José Maríi Arguedasa. W pracy dokonuje się również przeglądu innych peruwiańskich dzieł literackich w celu zidentyfikowania w nich różnych przedstawień świata peruwiańskiego, tak aby poszerzyć panoramę literacką w której tworzył swoje dzieła Jose Maria Arguedas. Ponadto praca koncentruje się na biografii José Maríi Arguedasa, którego życie pokazuje jaki wpływ na człowieka ma życie pomiędzy dwoma różnymi światami. W analizie powieści „Głębokie rzeki” wzięto pod uwagę teorię transkulturacji i wyeksponowane zostały aspekty kulturowego i rasowego dualizmu, które naznaczają peruwiańską historię i rzeczywistość.

The objective of this study is to present the image of Peru as a country divided between two different worlds. On the basis of José María Arguedas' novel "Deep Rivers" an analysis of the country's society, culture and bilingualism has been made. The work approaches the issues of racial miscegenation and the linguistic and geographical variety of Peru, which play an important role in the interpretation of the work of José María Arguedas. The study also reviews other Peruvian literary works in order to identify different representations of the image of Peruvian world in them, so as to broaden the literary panorama in which Jose Maria Arguedas created his novel. In addition, the study focuses on the biography of José María Arguedas, which serves as an example of a person whose life has been divided between the Hispanic and the indigenous world. In the analysis of "Deep rivers" the theory of transculturation has been applied and the aspects of cultural and racial duality that mark Peruvian history and reality has been exposed.

El objetivo del presente trabajo es presentar la imagen del Perú como un país dividido entre dos mundos diferentes. A base de la novela de José María Arguedas titulada “Los ríos profundos” se hace un análisis de la sociedad, los escenarios peruanos y el bilingüismo de la obra. El trabajo acerca los temas del mestizaje racial y la variedad lingüística y geográfica del Perú, cuales juegan un papel importante en cuanto a la interpretación de la obra de José María Arguedas. Se hace también una recopilación de las imágenes del Perú en otras obras literarias peruanas para que se pueda ver el panorama literario más amplio y situar allí la novela arguediana. Además, el trabajo se enfoca en la biografía de José María Arguedas que sirve de ejemplo de una persona cuya vida estaba dividida entre el mundo hispano y el mundo indígena. En el análisis de “Los ríos profundos” se aplica la teoría de transculturación y se expone los aspectos de la dualidad cultural y racial que marca la historia y la realidad peruana.
