Border guards in the fight againts cross-border crime using the example of the Bieszczadzki Border Protection Department

Główną formacją, która ma czuwać nad bezpieczeństwem granicy państwowej w Polsce jest Straż Graniczna. Bieszczadzki oddział Straży Granicznej podobnie jak pozostałe oddziały muszą być przygotowane na zagrożenia płynące ze strony przestępstw transgranicznych. Wejście do strefy Schengen wprowadziło Straż Graniczną na nowy etap przeciwdziałania tym zjawiskom. Europejski model odpraw granicznych, zniesienie granic wewnętrznych, współpraca międzynarodowa oraz zwalczanie przestępczości transgranicznej stało się podstawą funkcjonowania Straży Granicznej.

The most important formation responsible for guarding the security of the Polish state border is the Border Police. The Bieszczadzki Border Guard Unit, like the other troops, must be prepared for the threats of cross-border crime. Accession to the Schengen area has brought the border police into a new phase in the fight against these phenomena. The European model of border controls, the abolition of internal borders, international cooperation and the fight against cross-border crime are the cornerstones of the work of the border guards.
