The concept of the Intermarium from the perspective of history and geopolitics

Niniejsza praca analizuje koncepcję Międzymorza, historię jej powstania, obecny stan oraz wpływ na sytuację geopolityczną w Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej. Celem badania jest prześledzenie rozwoju koncepcji Międzymorza, od pierwszych idei mogących służyć za jej pierwowzory do czasów współczesnych, odzwierciedlenie głównych tendencji w polsko-ukraińskich relacjach oraz analizowanie perspektyw i problemów tej koncepcji. Praca składa się ze wstępu, 4 rozdziałów, wniosków i bibliografii. Pierwszy rozdział zatytułowany „Międzymorze, problemy definicyjne” opisuje problemy i niuanse związane z terminami Międzymorze a Intermarium, przedstawia różnicę między nimi, a także wyjaśnia dlaczego termin „Oś Bałtycko-Czarnomorska” nie będzie używany i szczegółowo rozpatrywany w tej pracy. Drugi rozdział „Historia powstania i rozwoju koncepcji Międzymorza” opowiada o genezie koncepcji Międzymorza, wydarzeniach historycznych, które doprowadziły do ​​jej powstania oraz o rozwoju tej koncepcji na przestrzeni wieków. Trzeci rozdział „Idee Itermarium i Międzymorza dzisiaj, przykłady ich realizacji” pokazuje nam, jak dziś wygląda idea unii między państwami Europy Wschodniej i kto są jej głównymi zwolennikami, a także dotyczy stowarzyszeń i formacji, które można uznać za przykłady udanej realizacji części idei Międzymorza. Czwarty i ostatni rozdział „Krytyka i perspektywy koncepcji Międzymorza” dotyczy teoretycznych możliwości takiej formacji, jej aktualności, perspektyw, wad i problemów na drodze do realizacji tej koncepcji.

This work analyzes the concept of the Intermarium, the history of its creation, its current state and its impact on the geopolitical situation in Central and Eastern Europe. The purpose of this research is to trace the development of the Intermarium concept, from the first ideas, that could serve as its prototypes, to the present, to reflect the main trends of Polish-Ukrainian relations and to analyze the prospects and problems of this concept. The work consists of an introduction, 4 chapters, conclusions and bibliography. The first chapter entitled "Intermarium, definitional problems" describes the problems and nuances related to the terms Międzymorze and Intermarium, presents the difference between them, and explains why the term "Baltic-Black Sea Axis" will not be used and considered in detail in this work. The second chapter "History of the creation and development of the Intermarium concept" tells about the origins of the Intermarium concept, the historical events that led to its creation and the development of this concept over the centuries. The third chapter "The ideas of Itermarium and Międzymorze today, examples of their implementation" shows us what the idea of a union between Eastern European countries looks like today and who are its main supporters, and also concerns associations and formations that can be considered examples of successful implementation of part of the idea of Intermarium. The fourth and last chapter, "Criticism and perspectives of the Intermarium concept", concerns the theoretical possibilities of such a formation, its topicality, prospects, flaws and problems on the way to the implementation of this concept.
